A mobile wellness platform built for teenagers preparing for competitive exams (JEE/NEET).

What is JEE/NEET exams?
Two prominent national-level entrance exams in India for Engineering and Medical colleges.
Teenagers who appear in these exams are under a ton of pressure.

The goal was to increase emotional engagement and long-term retention by making the app feel emotionally relevant and habit-forming.

My goal was to:

1. Understand what motivates teenagers to engage with emotional wellbeing tools

2. Discover effective gamification patterns to drive retention

3. Deliver research-backed design recommendations for product improvements

Teenagers preparing for intense exams often experience anxiety, burnout, and isolation — yet avoid mental health apps that feel generic or non-relatable.

Early app usage data showed very low daily active users (DAU) and poor in-app retention, despite having a strong value proposition.

UX Research Process 📌

Based on our research with JEE/NEET aspirants, we mapped out a future-state journey that captures what an ideal interaction with the app could look like — emotionally and functionally.
